Everybody at our school feels strongly about taking care of our planet and doing our bit by:
recycling the things we use,
buying from local and fair trade suppliers and by looking after and promoting sustainability within our
school grounds.
We have a school vegetable garden
which is situated between the school pond and the willow tunnel. The vegetable garden was
given a new lease of life in 2008, when a local farmer kindly helped us build new raised beds - we then had a whole school
project day where we worked in teams to prepare and plant up the vegetable beds.
During the summer term the school gardening club look after the vegetables and produce that is grown is handed over with pride
to our school cook so that we get to eat it on our plates at dinnertime! At the front of our school building we also have an
abundant herb garden, which again is frequently used by the school cook and surplus herbs are often sold to parents at fund
raisers. We also have resident chickens
who periodically lay eggs for the kitchen!
